Goodmorning dear people of Good will,
I am a Parent with a 14 year old Autistic Son. In Zambia this is a very rare disease and it took me 7 years to actually know that it is Autism. I started mobilising other parents with the same problem and we have now 11 children with diverse Autism spectrum problems. We have managed to build a classroom block for the our childrn with the help of Roatar International.
What we now need is a small Bus because most of these children stay very far away from school and they need to walk for about 2 hours to reach the school. If you can assist us with a small bus which can be used to transport these kids to and from school then as parents (though most of them cannot even afford a $1 per day) we can find ways and means of buying fuel.
On the other hand, as a third World Country we dont have trained teachers, no speech therapist, no teaching Aids for this type of children. For example my son can hear very well and I was told by doctors that he only needs a speech therapy to take him though and he can regain his speech within three months!
Mrs Riley would you kindly talk to some people or organizations that can help us in one way or the other i.e with Transport, teaching Aids or even find sponsors for some children who need some speech therapy and also Training for our teachers.
Kind Regards and may the good Lord guid you as you embark on the mission and task that you have been given! These are people like us and they need the support and respect from all of us but it is different here in Zambia they are treated like lepers!
